I’m 5’7”, 180 lbs, and I got a XL. My waist is 37” and my hips are 44”. It has a zipper on the left side and elastic in the back portion. The material is nice, but not thick. Not thin either. If you are looking for warm I would layer it with a petticoat, tights, or a slip. The belt loops are wide enough for a bigger belt than what it comes with. I bought the green/black plaid and the red/navy plaid. Both are exactly the same.I'm 5'3" and about 210lbs. I got this in the hope it would fit and it does!Fabric is thick and seams on the skirt seem quite good. The fabric has some stretch to it.The belt it comes with is just fabric and has no structure, so you could totally replace it if you want something to highlight your waist.Be aware this might wrinkle easy depending on how you store it.Overall very pleased with this skirt! May order in other colors.I’m 5 ft tall, and weigh 130 lbs., so I ordered a small, and this skirt hit me mid calf, which is what I wanted. I have no hips to speak of, so the nice deep pockets are flattering., as is the wide waistband. The button placket down the front of the skirt is sewn, so there will never be any gapping between the buttons. The fabric is sturdy and opaque; and has some stretch to it, so it’s a comfortable fit.I promise i will get to point but, i have to tell you about my mindest before I tell you why you have to buy this skirt. So bare with me please.I am skeptical about buying clothes online. Trying on clothes is a must for me. I hate the inconvenience of having to return something, and they never give your money back as fast as they take it ?. 90% of the things I buy online i either donate or deal with it because they rarely ever turn out to be what they're advertised for.I've changed careers and as a result i have gained some weight. Enough for me to have to buy a new wardrobe. Not fun. So that makes buying things online every more challenging because I'm still in denial ?.This skirt.... is AMAZING! I was blown away. The materiel is stretchy, it fit snug on me but it was comfortable. It's a bit on the heavy side so it's great for fall and spring. For winter it can be paired with some thick leggings. But! It's still flowy and still light enough for the summer. I didn't wear it outside so I don't know if it will make me sweat. It sits perfectly on my hips and just moves with me. It flatters and exsentuates (no idea if I spelled that correctly and autocorrect is never my friend) my weist.Just buy it. I promise you will love it. I'm newly a large so if you're already a large, maybe size up.There is a zipper on the side and... IT HAS POCKETS!!!Flannel fabric, not lined but perfect for fall and winter if you wear fleece-lined tights! I add a slip as well cause I like the extra layer. I own the green and red plaid and have had complements on each. Plus - pockets (!) and a decent little leatherette belt that's completely detachable.UPDATE JUNE 24, 2022: I have a 36" waist, which can slightly increase around a certain time of the month. So I followed the size chart and got the XXL originally, and it was way too sloppy and big in the waist. So I just bought an XL, and it seems to me that the fabric has been updated to a sleeker polyester like another Belle Poque skirt I own. The XL fits me very well, requiring a little stretch to get zipper closed, and that makes it fit nicely so it has a smoothing affect. Way better than the XXL. I don't think they take fabric stretch into account when they make their size chart. Some fabrics should fit looser, but not this one. Also, with the fabric stretching, the belt sits nicer too, and also has the same upgraded fabric on it, so it's not as flimsy. Now, I only wish they had other colors. I already have Belle Poque circle skirts in the Army Green, Black, Navy and now Gray, and also a Sunflower print. This one needs some different patterns or something and I will buy more. A nice bubble gum (deep pink with a hint of blue-ish tone) would be great. Or red.I already have 4 Belle Poque skirts and 2 dresses, and the size is usually around the same across the brand XXL for me. I have a similar skirt without the button down front. This gray skirt was large on me in that size, so I need to downsize to an XL and I sent it back. I was kinda bummed I could not just request an exchange, but I did not see a way to do that. Also, the belt on this one is really cheesy. Not as high quality as the elastic with patent leather belt Belle Poque sells on another style skirt. The fabric is not sleek like the other style, it's more knit like, and I was disappointed the button down front was not real, just for show. I feel like I overpaid for this one. But I need a gray skirt and I already have two of the other one with the black belt so I wanted to change it up a little. The skirt is full and the fabric has a nice heft. I got the black 3X which is about 40 inches unstretched. There isn't elastic, but the fabric is stretchy and the 3x can go at least to 48 inches. The wide belt is just cloth, so it doesn't stand on it's own and not much use as a belt, but that's not a big deal. The bright blue on this skirt is so pretty! The brown buttons down the front are a nice touch that separates this skirt from similarly styled ones that I have. It fits true to size, according to the chart. My one negative is that the holes on the belt don't start for a couple of inches and there was no way I am going to get it buckled. It looks great without it though so it's not a huge loss.I got this skirt in 2 colours and unfortunately, one was tragically wrinkled. It's no-iron material, so I tried hanging it and steaming the heck out of it - but nothing helped. There were deep vertical creases (from bunching up as the skirt is so wonderfully full), but also a DEEP horizontal crease 4" up from the hem, the whole way around, because of how it had been folded/stored. Belle Poque makes beautiful things. If only they'd put a bit more attention into packaging/shipping - instead of scrunching this into a Ziploc bag. This would have been a winner, but instead it's going back :(Need to wear a slip under this as it’s thin and static makes the skirt cling to your legs without something underneath. The fabric is squeaky. There’sa fake button under where the belt goes which I found a bit odd since the belt Is what makes this skirt work so I’d never wear it without. Fine In a pinch but let’s not deny it’s cheaply madeIts ok. Not too bad nor too good
