I have been looking to 2 year for a long coat with a hood, preferably not black. It is hard to find any long coats now that are actually warm in very cold weather. After reading tons of reviews on this coat, I decided to go for it. The hardest part was deciding what size — small or medium. I am 5’2”, 125 pounds, 35-27-37. My concern after reading reviews was being able to wear the coat over sweaters or suit jackets because of the sleeves being tight. I decided to go with the small, again after reading many reviews of others who had purchased a small.The coat arrived before it was even supposed to and when I opened it, I loved it! The length is perfect — a couple inches above my ankles even with low shoes. The fit through the body is great even with a sweater on. The sleeves are a bit tight, but I can get all but my heaviest sweaters under it, even though I do feel a little like the kid in his winter coat who can barely bend his elbows. However, after just a few weeks, it feels like the sleeves are stretching out a bit, so they do feel more comfortable.The coat is SOOO warm. I stood at a bus stop for 15 minutes recently in 28 degree weather with a thin t-shirt and light sweater under the coat and was very toasty. The hood is amazing. The fur rests right along my forehead and helps keep my head warm (and feels very soft!) I have yet to wear it in really windy weather, but I don’t anticipate having problems with it blowing off. And while the coat is warm, it is not ridiculously heavy in terms of actual pounds. The wool coat I have worn for years actually weighs more than this coat but is no warmer.One great feature I have not seen anyone mention is the zippered pocket on the inside of the coat. I hate to carry a purse, so having a safe place to put my ID, credit card, and money it such a bonus. I bought the chocolate and it is a beautiful, rich color. I appreciate that I can wear it as a dressy coat, but also don’t feel overdressed in a pair of jeans and boots in this coat. I have received multiple compliments from strangers when I am wearing it. Even if this coat cost $50-75 more, it would be worth it, but at $150, it is a steal!I originally ordered a small because that was all they had in the black, when I normally would have ordered a medium. I wear medium size tops and a size 8 dress. The small did not fit me at all, I could not button it. So I returned it and ordered a medium in the brown. It fits perfectly, except for the length since I am only 5'3". I had it professionally shortened and they did a great job. It is possible to cut it and then turn it up at the bottom to look just the same as before, but shorter. The woman said it was difficult to do, however, because the stitches get lost in the "fur". I could have gotten a black in the medium at that time but decided to go with the brown, so I have seen both colors first hand. Either one is beautiful .It is a really plush material that looks to be far more expensive than it is. I just decided that I did not want the more formal and somber look of the black so went with the brown. There is intricate stitching around the waist and the sleeves that you don't notice until you look very close. This contributes to the nice fit. The buttons and button holes are sturdy. I have only worn the coat twice now and have gotten a compliment on it on the street.The alterations people wanted to know where I got it. I brought in a print out from the Luxury Lane site to show them and showed them that they can order it on Amazon. I ordered directly from Luxury Lane the first time with the size small, and from Amazon the for the medium. The only thing I would change about the coat is the hood, because it does not close tightly around the neck so tends to blow back off the head, even with a scarf tied around it. But this is not a big deal. A most excellent coat!I bought this to replace another coat by the same maker, which I had misplaced. I loved the other coat, and like this one, the sewing and construction is well done, the fabric is nice too. Sadly, unlike the first coat (not offered at this time), this coat has strange buttons. The buttons are much too thick and just slightly too wide to easily fit through the buttonholes. It is necessary to force the buttons through each hole (or the top loop), making putting the coat on or taking it off very difficult and slow. I do not have any arthritis or hand problem, these are simply a very poor choice of buttons for the holes. I think the buttonholes will stretch out, eventually making use easier, but I worry the fabric will look warped and the sewing reinforcement around each button may break or snap. I don't understand the choice of pairing these buttons with the cutting and sewing design of this coat. I would have given 4 or 5 stars, if not for this problem.Size-wise, I'm 5'6" and I though the medium was a great fit for me, long enough at the sleeves. The shoulders are too narrow, many women may need to order a size larger, as other reviewers note. I had bought a Large in the previous coat from this maker, and it was slightly too big for me, but, sadly, the medium is too tight at the shoulders..The fit is for junior/teens, or the slender/small-boned. It fits at the length of sleeves and waist, but is tight at the back and shoulders; I can't comfortably cross my arms in front of my chest, bending, reaching and carrying things will be hard. The coat is a bit more narrow at the bottom than I'd like, The narrow cut doesn't prevent easy walking, because the buttons stop high enough up to make a slit, giving more leg room to walk. I'd rather have a more full profile at the skirt hem, to make it warmer, as more fabric means more coverage, but it is a nice, slim profile which I may learn to like more.Still, it is a nice garment, warm and attractive; I like the inner pockets with zipper access. I am disappointed about the buttons, but not enough to send it back. I sure hope the buttonholes stretch without damage to appearance or actual tearing. This coat is heavy, but I like the fur-on-the-inside material, and very much appreciate a vegan choice in a warm coat (no down for me).This is a wonderful coat, very warm and comfortable. I usually wear Size S but found that XS fits me better. The seller was a pleasure to correspond with, very helpful. I couldn't be more satisfied with this purchase.I absolutely love it. I wasn't happy about the extra £18.95 customs and excise I had to pay to get it though especially as it was from a UK company.
